He was taking care of my mom for thyroid issues until recently. He has horrible bedside manners and I don't actually think he cares about his patients at all. He pretty much flat out told her that her poor life choices were the reason she got cancer.
Absolutely horrible patient care. No follow up to care. Wanted me to try a medicine that was never prescribed. Wanted me to get an MRI that they never ordered. Never followed up on blood work without a phone call. After leaving the practice I receive a bill 7 months later for additional copay owed because they didn't have correct referral. I have been patient over 10 years. Excellent care and takes time to answer questions. Thru his care I have improved bone density and maintained consistent levels of thyroid after cancer treatment. Be prepared with your questions written down.
Dr. La Rocque treated me for my thyroid for a number of years. I would get all necessary tests as needed. He recommended that I get my thyroid removed and he got a surgeon for me at Sentara Norfolk General. My thyroid was removed and it was definitely necessary. I still do follow up care and he orders any needed blood work or tests and I take my lifetime medications which you have to take once your thyroid is removed. If medications need updating he will do so. I have nothing but praise for him.
