I came to Dr. Gutwein with chronic constipation and what I believe to be a partial abdominal obstruction. Seven years earlier, with different symptoms, I had seen a different doctor in his practice. The minute I walked in he insulted me. He refused to do a colonoscopy because I was "too skinny". I found him rude and mean. Today I got a bill from his office for $400 for a 45 minute consultation and he doesn't even have my insurance.
Dr Gutwein was my gastroenterologist for many years. When I presented him with a problem of diarrhea he dismissed me that it will go away. For 2 years. When I insisted on more help he didn’t order any tests and put me on a medicine for bile acid malabsorption.Not effective. My last visit with him was a brutal appointment with a Dr who should be retired. He was cruel, condescending, interrupted my session with a personal phone call (I heard his conversation from another room) and was downright unprofessional. I have since fou... read more
