Explained by condition, very patience with our questions, very positive and supportive.
Dr. Hu spent all of 5 min w/ me. Didn't ask about symptoms, do any sort of exam and went straight to discussing lab work. Spoke down to me the entire time. (Nevermind I've been an RN for 20 yrs.) When attempting to coordinate the labs Dr. Hu was ordering and labs my rheumatologist wanted (since I had recently started a new medication to manage my Lupus), he refused to even consider giving me a lab req so that I could have my labs drawn somewhere else so I could avoid two sticks. Dr Hu spent less than five minutes with me at my visit. He insisted, based on blood work, that he knew what the diagnosis was. He said he didn't need to discuss my symptoms or concerns because my blood told him what he needed to know. He put me on a chemo class drug, insisting i should be happy i didn't have cancer. After 6 months , with no improvement of my physical condition i got a second opinion. The initial diagnosis was proven wrong very easily, and i was able to stop a chemo drug.
Dr Hu has been monitoring my CLL for several years. He doesn’t spend much time, but he makes it count. He always takes time to answer questions and explains my complicated blood results in a way I can understand. I never feel rushed. I see him 3-4 times a year and he is on time 99% of the time.
Cancer care requires dealing with humanity. Did you do something to cause cancer? Is it your fault? All that happens in treatment may echo this or other destructive self talk. Your cancer MD must be human. You must feel he has a heart. Dr. Hu: No empathy. No ability to connect with you. No ability to comprehend cancer often associated with depression. Simply says cutting comments and leaves the room. He feels himself superior.... to the struggle w cancer us Americans have
First husband had Non Hodgkins Lymphoma in 08 and in remission since 09. I had breast cancer in 2015 and after surgery in November and radiation, I am cancer free!! He's the BEST and would recommend him to anyone.
Dr. Hu is always very concerned, listens well, and most importantly, cured me of cancer twice!
