My experience with Dr. Kessler was excellent . He is one of the finest Colorectal Surgeons in not just this country , but around the world. He is an extremely busy doctor , with many patients to see. I never had more than a brief wait time for my appointments, and never thought anything of it. I found him to be warm, kind, reassuring , and patient. He answered my many questions very clearly . Dr. Kessler's bedside manner was good. Although it took quite a while for the doctor to come in, once he was there he gave me the time I needed. He introduced me to the two other (visiting) surgeons with him. He asked if I had any questions and took the time to answer them. He followed up with me after the surgery and was polite, personable and well humored. I felt admiration and respect for his skill and that he cared about me as a patient.
Dr. Kessler is likely an able and competent surgeon. However, his bedside manner and communication skills are sorely lacking. I went in to have an exam for prolapsed hemorrhoids. I waited for over an hour to see Dr. Kessler, and while several of his staff members apologized for the wait time, he himself never did. When he finally arrived, he had an entourage in tow - a nurse and two interns. At no time did he ask if I was comfortable having an audience present during my exam. Started out well, but did not update clinical notes and wasn't communicating with the other drs on my case. I lost confidence after this. Felt like a number :(
