I had an appointment with Dr. Hughes a couple of months ago and was very impressed with his knowledge, understanding and communication skills. I highly recommend him.
Dr. Hughes is amazing. I have a bicuspid aortic valve with an ascending aortic aneurysm. Although my aneurysm measure .5 cm, because of my age (49) and health (non-smoker, occasional drinker, super active lifestyle) he recommended we dial back my high intensity training and monitor the aneurysm with a 6 month CT scan. Met Dr. Hughes for the first time while in the ICU at DUMC. The care I received was excellent. I have continued to remain under his care. I would definitely give him and his team two thumbs up.
He grafted my aorta, from top to bottom 3 months after I had a heart transplant. My case was the first ever to be performed after a heart transplant. He is a rock star.
