Individual had surgery in his stomach with this doctor , ended up in a coma for over a month, had 2 huge open sores in the back of his head, when woken up, found out he now has severe nerve damage in his spine, has a dislocated shoulder, numbness in both his feet, doctor was rude with no compassion, gets upset if you ask questions, so sad his situation. Definitely don’t recommend him, try to do research before anything.
I wish we could give negative stars. Dr Essien is absolutely unprofessional, condescending and he and his office WILL NOT acknowledge you post surgery. I woke up after surgery in absolute pain!!! I had hiatal hernia and esophagus surgery. He and His office staff provide no post up instructions or support. I endured horrific whiplash to my neck and pain in my esophagus. I had gastric sleeve over a year ago. Yes, when you first meet Dr. Ession, he is straightforward, and can even seem impolite. But let me tell you... Would you rather have a super sweet people-pleasing Dr. with just adequate skills completely entering your body, forever rearranging you digestive system? Or world you rather have a no nonsense Dr. who deals with people with eating disorders, giving every reason and excuse in the world why they haven't changed their diets, or lost the required weight who is an EXCELLENT surgeon?... read more
If I could give him a ZERO star I would!! ALL the bad reviews given regarding everything about him is TRUE so I won't repeat it! This is the Worst surgeon ever terrible bedside manner and more. I really don't need his staff to come and write their apologies for him and make excuses for him either! The girls in his office are GREAT just hope he treats you better than his patience!! Don't go to this guy!!!!
Dr Essien changed my life!!! If you want a dr to tell you stories and make you feel good, he is not the one. But if you want good advice and a great outcome of the surgery, definitely choose him. And the team @ MVSA (Mfon, Diane) is great and very supportive!!!
