I can't tell you how disappointed I am in Dr Lirio's treatment of me. I've experienced being dismissed before but I hung in there with him for about 5 years with absolutely no help. He must not have checked my records because he prescribed me a medication that is in the same family of medications that almost killed me a few years ago. Thank god the pharmacy caught the issue or I may have died or ended up hospitalized because those drugs can actually cause my heart to explode. Incredibly unprofessional, no one in his office answers any calls or messages. It’s like you have to beg them to do their job. He continues to push the same medication that I’ve told him multiple times does not work. And offers no suitable alternatives. I ask him to fill out FMLA paperwork for me and he makes several mistakes that cause issues for me at my job. He’s careless, he’s callous, and he’s arrogant. I’ve been a patient of his for over 5 years, and nothing improves. Don’t waste your time or energy on him.
He dismissed the lived experience of a Black Queer woman, suffering from chronic pain. Do not become a patient of this man, unless you want to be dismissed, and mocked by an arrogant doctor who thinks he knows more about your body than you. Not only is he an arrogant doctor, he has a horrible bedside manner, no sense of cultural competence, and doesn't keep up with the latest research related to fibromyalgia.
