Dr. Eric Tygenhof was the fourth urologist that we met with concerning the issue with my left kidney. Our initial appointment we discussed the problem with my kidney. Dr. Tygenhof was upfront and very direct with his response stating that if the kidney showed as having 12% efficiency that it is a good indication that the kidney is dead and needs to be removed. He only cares about money. I tried to call him after my office visit, because I have a couple questions. I had to call three times just trying to speak with this so called doctor! Finally, I was told by the Receptionist that he doesn’t take call. If I need to speak with him, I will need to schedule a telehealth appointment! I told them that I was going to reschedule another in person visit, but before I did so, I had a couple of questions. Would not recommend. He didn't seem to really care to help me. Got kidney stones removed, he left stones inside of me and the surgery landed me in the hospital for 4 days for kidney infection and sepsis. He knew this happened and didn't care to check in on me. Such a shame. Im seeing a new urologist now and the difference is huge. Especially because the front desk employees for Dr. Tygenhof were rude and short. Please consider going somewhere else.

Dr. Tygenhof is an excellent physician and surgeon. He has an excellent bedside manner; he explained my condition in terms that I understood and explained the procedure required to remedy my condition. The day of my surgery I was nervous and concerned about pain management; he addressed my fears by reassuring me and convinced me that the medication he prescribed for pain would be more than adequate and it was. He's a highly competent and the BEST urologists as far as i'm concerned.

The office staff are just not customer-centric. They need to be retrained and they need to realize that a patient is their customer. I had not only a very bad experience with one of the office staff members, who spoke down to me, and over me, and did not make me feel valued, but to top it off, the office manager showed no remorse, nor was I offered any kind of apology. It is time for Dr. offices to join the 21st century - treat your customers well or lose your customers.

Dr. Tygenhof is friendly, knowledgable, professional and likable. He is genuinely interested in his patients, always prepared in advance of appointments and even called me personally. Christina (his assistant) is sweet, organized and has excellent follow through. You couldn't ask for better in Orange County.
