No concept of how to interact with people on the spectrum. Even though I let her know today and at my first visit. Also, I wondered why the form I was filling out in the waiting room was all about pain? Nowhere on the paper did it state rheumatology. Just "Summit Arthritis and Infusions". I didn't have this form at my first visit. So I asked the receptionist "Why is this paper all about pain? I don't have any pain. Am I in the right place? The doctor is a Rheumatologist, right?" Just magnificent! If you want thorough, kind, caring, experienced, knowledgeable AND understanding..This is your Doctor. Yes it's a wait to see her...but once you do...you will totally appreciate her. She doesn't sugar coat things, she's pretty "to the point" thank God... and she's like a dog with a bone...she WILL get to the problem. Just DO IT!
I was so encouraged by my appointment with Dr. McKnight. She is incredibly professional, kind, knowledgeable and compassionate. I have never felt so hopeful about finding answers and solutions. I’m really thankful for the amazing doctors out there who restore my faith in their profession. I have been brushed off for years, and finally feel like I am moving in a better direction under her care.
All I can say is thank God for Dr. McKnight. Maybe it's because she's a woman but she was the first doctor to LISTEN and take me SERIOUSLY. I finally have a diagnosis, treatment, and a direction to go in. My first rheumatologist made me out to feel like a fool and just wanted to send me for tertiary care which could be a year in waiting. Dr. McKnight started treatment the first appointment and had taken every concern of mine into consideration, even offering help or suggestions for things unrelated to her.
