Extremely rushed. When I arrived for surgery I sked him if I had an infection as Kennebec Urology didn't call me like they said they would following a test for infection. He said if I had an infection they would have cancelled the stone removal. Next morning they called me and informed me that I had an infection. Spent 3 days in the hospital and six weeks recovering from the ordeal. Kidney function went from 60 down to 30 following the operation. Attending nurse said that Tooth was in a hurry when he came out after my surger... read more
Dr. Tooth was dismissive and demeaning in his approach when dealing with my family member who was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer. Appointments were rushed and no opportunity for a patient centered approach. Requests by my loved one to have a mri guided biopsy or new testing options or surgical vs. medicine (LHRH) treatments were strongly dismissed. Outstanding professional. I have been a patient of Dr. Tooth’s for years, kidney stones unfortunately, and he is the go to man.
His staff was able to get mean appointment quickly. They were very kind as well as Dr. Tooth. Dr. Tooth listened to my concerns and he was very honest and kind in explaining what treatments were yet to come and why. I appreciate his honesty. He was able to describe to me and what side effects I may have with future treatments. I recommend him!
I am not one to write reviews however, when someone keeps you alive for ten years, there are exceptions. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2009. Dr. Tooth has been an instrumental part of my cancer team from the start. He explained my options, answered my questions, and performed his services throughout my battle with caring warmth and professionalism that allowed me to direct my decisions with knowledge and hope. Today my psa numbers are again back to undetectable. Thank you Derrick
Apparently he knows what he's doing, but is brusque & I did not feel 'heard'. Felt my concerns were dismissed out of hand ~
Dr. Tooth is great in keeping you informed on what is going to be done and what is exactly happening to all your questions. I had an emergency where the ambulance had to take me to Maine General Dr. Tooth was there to answer all my questions and concerns, he is the best Dr. that I have ever come across, his staff is great in getting me help when I call. I highly recommend Dr. Tooth completely, you will be in the best care possible.
