My former partner and I saw Dr. Renye as our couple’s sex therapist. The reason why we sought help is because I had significantly withdrawn from the relationship. In one session, I disclosed an incident in which I had asked my partner to penetrate me slowly, and instead he penetrated me rapidly and forcefully and said “I will do what I want.” This experience was physically painful, frightening, and violating at the time.
