As a patient from 2021 thru 2023, my experience was that this practice is not one to walk into blindly. Northwestern Medicine has been substantially easier to work with across their entire IBD care team. Understand that at UChicago Med, you are working with elite minded executive level medical professionals, that are as much vested in their image as they are your personal care. Tread Carefully here.

They cancelled my appointment without even speaking to me first, and the woman who answered the phone was rude and I felt like she wasn’t listening to me. Why did they schedule me with this doctor to begin with if he only sees patients who have *officially* been diagnosed with IBD? My primary care physician wanted me to see this doctor because I’ve been struggling with these symptoms for 14 years now, did all the appropriate testing, and 4 gastroenterologists over the years still can’t tell me why I’m having these GI issues.... read more
I have never experienced such phenomenal care/understanding/treatment from any gastro MD as I have with Dr. Rubin and his very professional team. They weren’t playing games with me, or being dismissive, or condescending, or trying to line me up with expensive tests. His concern and interest in my specific circumstances were solidified by all of his questions in regard to my ENTIRE history of dealing with crohns onset up to surgery/treatments thereafter, leading up to my current issue. Dr, Rubin is absolutely the best GI doctor in this country. He is more than just a doctor he gives hope when none is in sight and he will stand with you during the storms and guide you through them. I’ve never felt more comfortable and trusting towards any doctor ever before I meet Dr, Rubin. He will always answer your questions and most of all listen to you, also do everything in his power to get you better. I truly believe every doctor should aspire to be like him.
