Left here in tears as a teenager. This man did not listen to my concerns, spoke harshly to me, and refused to refill my birth control without giving me a pelvic exam despite having had one in the previous 2 years and being 17 years old. I went elsewhere after refusing the exam and had my prescription refilled by another female OB at the same practice.
I specifically made an appointment with Dr Nomeland to discuss hormone replacement therapy options. I made this clear at the time of scheduling the appointment. Nevertheless, this doctor does not believe in HRT. Unless, according to him, symptoms are extreme. However he could not give me a example of when he would prescribe. There was no discussion to be had. He never asked about family history etc. I found him to be arrogant and unwilling to assist me with providing education and allowing me to understand options. I read the one star reviews, and was scared to see him. However, I didn't need to fear because he listened to me, took time with me, was gracious in his verbal input.
I had an undiagnosed slipped disc during the last month of my pregnancy. I couldn’t walk, sit, or stand up. I was in excruciating pain and nomeland made no effort to help me when I should have been on bed rest. He ignored my requests for advice or help and ignored my pain altogether. And so could not predict that I wouldn’t be able to sustain labor. My baby was in distress , his heart rate was dropping. and nomeland did nothing to help him or me besides order an ultrasound. He couldn’t figure it out so he did nothing. While ... read more
Couldn't accompany my wife during her first visit with Dr. Nomeland but had her come home crying because of the doctor's lack of sensitivity when answering my wife's question about delivery procedures and options. He reportedly said something similar to what another reviewer reported when expressing himself, by stating that my wife could choose to let her child grow up without a mom for her religious beliefs. Regardless of his opinion, that is a very insensitive thing to say to a pregnant woman.
During my visit Dr. Nomeland asked me if I had gotten my flu shot. I let him know that after much consideration, I had decided not to. He asked me if I knew why it was recommended, I stated yes, my immune system was not as strong due to the pregnancy. He answered, "No, it's so you dont DIE." He also asked if I had felt the baby move, I answered yes, he said that was not possible since I was not 18 weeks yet...I was 17 weeks & 4 days along. His pregnancy must have been different! ugh
Going to the gynecologist is not fun. Going to see David Nomeland is a surprisingly pleasant experience. This guys knows his stuff. I appreciated his direct approach and his willingness to thoroughly answer any questions I might have. I have seen him several times now and I could not be happier with the level of care that I receive from him. He is a great doctor. And a very nice, very funny man.
