On March 16, I had an ultra minimally invasive L5-S1 discectomy surgery. I had instant relief from the sciatica pain I was having and I am pain free!! I only took the pain medication for two days after surgery and only took Tylenol and muscle relaxers for a few days after that. Five years ago I had C4-C6 fusion surgery. How lucky I was to find Dr.Refai! He preformed a laminectomy on my back on March 13, 2026 with a fairly new less invasive procedure that he developed and by April 29th , I was in pretty good shape and able to resume my activities. His staff was excellent and very Respectful and responsive to my needs! I highly recommend Dr. Refai for any of your back problems! Thank you Dr. Refai!
Dr. Refai performed surgery on my spine 3 years ago. He and his team provided all The information I needed for recovery and expectations post surgery. Since then, my issue has resolved nicely and I am very glad I went to Dr. Refai, rather than another surgeon who wanted to perform a much more invasive procedure.
Dr Refai, his team and everybody at Emory have been incredible. When my insurance company referred me to him I had no idea that I needed surgery. He was very clear and direct while informing me of the risks and benefits from both getting the surgery immediately and waiting until a later date. Communication with him, his team and everybody at Emory has been prompt, productive and helpful (I wish the same could be said about my insurance provider)
