I've been a patient of Dr. Eklov for quite while now. She took over for my original doctors practice when he retired. She has been my own personal "warrior" and advocate during my cancer battle and recovery. She looks at the whole picture when helping me out with various health issues. (Stress, home environment, exercise routines, type of diet, etc.) She has taught me a lot over the years. I appreciate her thoroughness and clear explanations. Dr. Eklov is a fantastic doctor. She takes her time and listens carefully. She gives concise explanations that are easy to understand.
She’s a horrible doctor. She talks to you like you’re stupid and don’t know anything about yourself. She talks down to you and talks absurdly loud during appointments. I heard her talking with a different patient two rooms down about birth control. She does not value the time of her patients. Two follow ups I had in a row and I’ve had to wait 20+ minutes each time from my originally scheduled appointment. Yet holland hospital has the audacity to say arrive fifteen minutes early. Her service is awful.
My wife and I moved here from out of state. It took each of us longer than 3 months just to get our appointments for an annual physical. My wife went in as a self pay for insurance knowing all costs upfront. During her exam Dr Eklov recommended three vaccines for my wife of which she accepted one that was the most recommended. Dr Eklov never mentioned how much these shots were and a week later a bill came in the mail for $643.80 for a pneumococcal immunization shot. I am a very healthy retired woman who has always chosen a women physician for good reason. However, my new experience with Dr. Eklov during both meet & greet and a physical exam have been less than desirable. She has little or no “bedside manner” and will lecture or challenge your personal right to make choices for your body. A physician’s responsibility is to inform and provide choices on routine medical procedures or vaccinations, not to lecture or challenge a persons right to decline!
