I had my hip replaced one year ago by Van. Based on my experience if you are considering him for hip surgery I would not hesitate. Very personable and skilled all the way through the process. 4 weeks after surgery I did four about 5-mile hikes (2 thousand ft elevation gain each) while visiting my son in Boulder, and then on week 7 I did a 12-mile, 4-thousand ft elevation gain hike in the North Cascades, and I've not looked back.
