I can truly attest as to what an amazing surgeon Dr. Fernandez-del Castillo is. In 2010, I was rushed to the hospital with acute pancreatitis. My pancreas was dying Dr Fernandez-del Castillo was able to save me and a good portion of my pancreas. Now, over 15 years later, I am still here, and living a great life. I can never thank him enough.
In January I had the Whipple procedure done. Dr.F did the operation. I cannot express the genius of the man. He is wonderful, his team top notch, and MGH the best hospital in the state. I had my followup July 22nd. A CT scan was performed. No evidence of cancer, hernia. Dr. F said the healing is perfect. God bless his team.
Dr. Fernández-del Castillo is everything I could have asked for in a surgeon and doctor. His manner and command of a room were remarkable and he set my wife and I at ease with his knowledge and skill. We are genuinely appreciative of his team and their capabilities.
I will be the first to admit I was wrong. Dr. Fernandez was right and I should have trusted his opinion over the oncologist at Dana Farber that failed my husband and his treatment. Dr. Fernandez advised us to get testing and his oncologist said he didn’t need it and advised against it and he was wrong. Dr. Lillemoe and Fernandez are the top in their field for a reason and the hard lesson I’ve learned, is to understand these surgeons at MGH know the best resolution and to trust them.
Dr Fernandez is a very skilled caring specialist in the field of pancreatic oncology. He always answers all my questions and I am always reassured that I am getting the best possible care possible.
