Ok, I felt I needed to add my 2 cents worth after reading the negative reviews - He was my specialist for over 10 years, and I've been confident with his assessments; noting that I don't have any serious conditions. Here's the deal with Dr Ham, he's a straight talker but not a great explainer and he is not warm and fuzzy so he may come across as rude and abrupt, but he's a knowledgeable and very good ophthalmologist. He did my eye surgery, but it did not solve the problem, because earlier the surgeon did not diagnose the disease and now the GP sent me here and now he wants to send another doctor, already spent 4/5 thousand dollars and today I paid 300 dollars, now who will pay this money again? My question is how did he do the eye surgery without a proper diagnosis? Even if my eyes are damaged, I will not go to him.
I didn’t pay attention to the negative reviews here and managed to get an appointment with Dr. Boon Ham within 3 days – I’m so glad I did. He is very kind, friendly, and knowledgeable. My son, who normally hates hospitals and doctors, actually liked a doctor for the first time. I don’t understand what some people expect when leaving bad reviews. If you’re lucky to get an appointment, don’t be late – arrive early so you don’t put the doctor or other patients in a difficult position.
Dr Ham was highly recommended by the GP, so we decided to visit him despite being hesitant after reading the negative reviews here. Unfortunately, the reviews were spot on - he was rude, arrogant, dismissive, and completely, utterly unhelpful. Complete waste of $370.
Very disappointing experience especially for my young daughter. Very dismissive of anything I said, and did not offer any explanations or reassurance. Spent a very basic 2mins maximum assessing her to give his opinion. Would not return. Was not an enjoyable, positive or informative appointment at all. Had to book an appointment with another specialist to feel heard and informed.
