I have had the privilege of meeting Dr Mahar after office hours due to my work schedule he was very concerned about my wellbeing, he treated the whole patient not just one symptom I would strongly recommend him to anybody he was so concerned he even gave me his personal line so I could check in on my progress due to being a complicated case. He really cares about his patients.
Dr Mahar and his staff are excellent. In a time when most physicians are unable to take the time to talk to you, both Dr Mahar and his staff not only do house and community calls, they take time to get to know their patients and the concerns and needs. Excellent !!!!

Dr Mahar always seemed rushed and even at times belligerent. Not a very good listener. Had issues properly billing my insurance company and cut off my treatment without notice at the exact time my prescriptions were due. This left me scrambling to quickly find another practitioner in order to get the important medications that I needed. I consider what he did borderline malpractice and will not recommend Dr. Mahar to anyone I know and care about. His private practice is after hours due to his full time job at the VA clinic. ... read more

To be a doctor of any kind, especially of psychiatry, and not be able to be an approachable person defeats the point of being a doctor in the first place. This is the most important trait a doctor of any kind can have. A doctor who doesn't want to know his patients should become a pharmacist. H... read more
