I like to use both medical and layman's terms when I explain things to my patients. I do this so they can understand what their condition is and what I plan to do and also to allow them to recognize the technical terms if any other medical professional uses them in the future. I also try to draw pictures of surgical procedures I am performing. I want them to leave the office with an understanding of what is and what is going to be happening to them. Communication is the key to excellent medical care.
