I have treated with Dr. Alvarez for over ten (10) years as I am a chronic stone former (over 40 years). He is the best urologist that I have ever seen. He is knowledgeable and has excellent technique in removing my calcium oxalate stones. He also prescribed medication that reduced my propensity to form stones. Most importantly, Dr. Alvarez has always made himself available when I showed up in the ER in acute (and whatever is beyond excruciating pain). Without reservation, I would recommend Dr. Alvarez.
No matter how good or bad this doctor is doesn't matter, as the total experience is horrible. His office staff is extremely rude. I took my 20 year old son multiple times to see him and every time his staff in the front office were just burdened that we were there. The doctor visit itself was fine but checking in and out was the same rude. Calling them for anything the same thing. If they don't like people they definently need another occupation.
He cures
Doctor was anxious to set up biopsy even before the examination. Was sent to scheduling to get dates. They said I need to pick a date, then change/cancel if needed. That was IMPOSSIBLE. I asked for other dates - the scheduler said: no. I tried to call and cancel, I continuously was sent to voice mail - twice to the wrong office telling me that I (not them) made a mistake. Call center that handles 14 offices they told me- not my problem. 2nd opinion said biopsy not required yet.
Office staff is beyond rude and are too busy talking to each other to properly handle their patients. I was told I would receive a call back to setup a procedure to check for cancer and never got that call. I finally called and the representative said Why didn't you schedule it when you were here, you should have done that yourself. Well I was told someone would call me. Then they schedule it 3 months out when I have a high cancer risk. VERY unprofessional.
Dr. Alvarez took his time to talk to me and explain my problem in detail so I could better understand the issue.
