Referral for pain management was denied without a reason. It took 2 months to receive the denial. Since no one at the clinic, I got a Duke Patient Care advocate involved. Another joke… It took 3 weeks for the Advocate to contact me. All she did was contact Dr. Dimon, the Director, and asked why the referral was denied. He stated that I needed to get my pain meds from either Dr. Boyd, a Physiatrist, or Dr. Gottried, a Spine Neurosurgeon. Well, both doctors do not write pain prescrptions. Nothing has changed at Lake Norman Regional since Duke took over. Patients sit in waiting room in horrible pain, enough to pass out, for hours while patients that are well enough to play games on their phones get seen before an 85 year old in pain. Save yourself horrible pain, long waits and uncaring staff! Go somewhere else.
I have been here several times with family members. I see complaints about sometimes having to wait 3 hours to be seen. One relative of mine called me because she had waited for 5 plus hours in Charlotte ER. She was in severe pain. Another person had already been waiting almost 7 hours. Most times we come here the wait is minimal. The doctors and nursing staff have been pleasant, caring, and knowledgeable. They take the time to explain things clearly.
HORRIBLE, wait times are always long and providers never know what’s wrong with you. Literally must diagnose yourself, this place is absolutely ridiculous! Waiting over 2hrs just for a note…
I’ve been a pt at Duke Pain for 7-8 years. Ever since Prakken left, it’s been “Duke Circus for Dishing out Pain.” I’ve been through 5 providers, 4 of whom left — with good reason. I used to be seen monthly, but yesterday was my first appointment since FEBRUARY’22 (!!!!) Let me tell you, I’m a very experienced critical care nurse and I know what happens on the ‘other side of the stretcher.’ There isn’t much I won’t forgive, with ONE exception: ZERO TOLERANCE FOR HCPs WHO SIMPLY DON’T LISTEN. I didn’t tolerate it as a nurse (... read more
