Excellent Just was there. 100% positive Great guys. They've got my business from now on. They seem to be all about customer service. Got an oil change while I waited. Unlike the chains, they didn't try to sell me a lot of crap I didn't really need. Also went in for a noisy muffler and they took care of that, too--showing me exactly what the problem was rather than just telling me. These are HONEST people.

Downtown Muffler & Brake Shop is very honest I have known these guys for several years. My husband an ex police officer here in town uses them and so do several police officers for their personal vehicles. I have taken several of my vehicles in to Louie and Andy and they always look at them for me, as I am a worried woman and worry about every single noise and they won't take my money and always assure me my car is fine....now....that is an honest mechanic....all others would take advantage of my being a woman and could find... read more

overcharged and dishonest They did a custom exhaust on my car. The technician ran the exhaust pipes under the rear axle versus over it, claiming that was the only way to do it. This rendered the car unserviceable if it needed to have the rear-end jacked up. I had a brake job done on the car several months later and when brake shop put the car up on the lift, it pulled the exhaust system off as the axle fell on the exhaust pipes. over charged I had work done by Downtown Muffler a few months ago. I just found this website and decided to write a review. I went there for exhaust repair. The work was done well but I was over charged $30. I found this out the next day when I called a couple of other local muffler shops and got a quote over the phone for the same repair that was done by Downtown Muffler. Awesome! I would recommed these guys to anyone for a variety of work! They have always been very friendly, quick with service and soooo affordable! I won't go to anyone else my car work, unless they recommend it. Three years and counting....

A KU student's Mom from out of state Our daughter was having trouble with the check engine light. It had to do with the emissions-from behind the engine. We are 600+ miles away from Lawrence and needed to know where she could go that would be honest and reasonable. I found them on-line and their reviews were favorable. These guys are honest and fair I had them look at my car when my brakes started squeeking. They got me right in and called with a estimate within a short period of time. I was very surprised and delighted at how low the cost was.They have a great location in downtown lawrence. I would reccommend them to anyone wanting good service for a fair price.

great service and price!! brakes** I had my car checked out by a mechanic, and he recommended Downtown Muffler for a new exhaust. I received quotes from other places like Meineke and Firestone for $350, but Downtown Muffler was only $215!! They fixed my car within the hour!!
