My sister and I were on a road trip and about to drive out into the desert when our car started overheating for seemingly no reason. Dave took a look at it right away. He suggested a restaurant for breakfast while we waited. He called a couple of hours later letting us know he fixed the problem and that he would feel comfortable sending his own daughters out on the road. Extremely good service, fast, reliable, and kind workers.
We always receive excellent service at Downtown Auto at a reasonable cost. They do not try to get us to do extra things to our vehicles. On several occasions I have indicated that I think I need a particular repair and have been told that the repair is not needed. They are honest and friendly.
I've been taking my '07 Tahoe to Downtown Auto Care for 8 years. Dave and the guys have taken great care of it and I can always trust that I will be getting honest advice and a reasonable rate. I highly recommend them!
This is the best shop in the area, because they're someone you can trust. If they can do it, they charge a FAIR price. If they cant, they tell you they cant repair it. Or, they tell you other things that are wearing, like 50% wear on brake pads. I had an a/c issue with my Honda CRV. Dearlership told me $1,500.00, because it needs a new compressor. Dave at Downtown Auto said, "Compressor works... no leaks...I just recharged it." With the other things I had done, I saved $1,400.00. Thanks Downtown Auto (Dave)!
Downtown Auto looked at my car and told me they could not do anything to repair my vehicle. The transmission was burned out and they suggested a couple of other shops in the area. They could have just old me they could fix it and charged me an arm and a leg but they were upfront and honest and even though they did not do any repairs I would take my car to them next time and would recommend them. Awesome, Awesome place!!!! I came to Downtown Auto Care 5 minutes after having a TERRIBLE experience with another shop close by and after talking with "Dave" I realized I should have gone here to start with. I stopped in around closing time just wanting to ask a question and prepared to come back during business hours. A truly honest mechanic, my wife took our dead Volvo to him, he fixed it, told her to drive it for a few days, and see if it runs ok. Did not ask for payment. When we returned he fixed the slight miss, smogged the car, all for $109.00. As an ex-mechanic myself, it is nice to see there is still a good skilled honest mechanic around.
