I always hate going to the big stores like Lowe’s and Home Depot because they treat me like I’m ignorant when I ask questions and I feel like I’m annoying them. But at Downings, I walked in and was greeted with a friendly face and he walked me right to what I needed. He even showed me some new stuff and gave me some ideas for new little projects to do! I will be doing all of my shopping here from now on.
This is the best local hardware I've ever experienced. I moved near it 8 months ago and go there often for pieces and parts for my older home and it's equipment. They have never let me down. Also, they will help you personally and know what you are talking about (sometimes even if you don't!). There is no box store mentality there, either. The can sell you the single screw or bolt you need, instead of making you buy a whole box. Also, there is never a long line to wait in. Try it, you'll like it.
