Doppio has everything to become a hidden gem on the West Village. Borrowing an expression from another reviewer, Doppio is amazingly unpretentious. I went there for brunch and ordered a Milanese - it was crunchy, it was great. Some friends ordered sandwiches and both were so good that some of us decided to order a sandwich in addition to our entrees so we could have more than just one bite... sandwiches were filled to perfection, not too much, not too little, baked on the oven with a really great bread. 5 star dinning experience at an affordable price point. The pizza makes you feel as if you've escaped to Italy. My favorites are the Portuguese Octopus, Short Rib, Diavola Pizza, and the Pappardelle with mushrooms and truffle. Best Italian cuisine in the West Village!!!
This is the FIRST restaurant to get me to actually bother to sign up on Yelp, and write a review both there AND here! Yes, 5 stars, literally "woohoo! as good as it gets!" (quadruple exclamation point!!!!) You can tell the place is extremely passionate about the food here, very knowledgeable of the ingredients and how it's all prepared. The margaritas were incredible.
