Clean, well maintained and beautiful!
We were on a group drive up the crest road and stopped at Doc Long mid morning one Friday. The surroundings were lovely. Huge Ponderosa pines, and some very large deciduous trees none of us could identify with any certainty surrounded Doc Long. We didn't avail ourselves of the picnic area but it looked very appealing. The facilities of which we did avail ourselves were standard Forest Service, but we were grateful for their presence.
This is a beautiful tree lined area for day use with picnic tables and sitting areas. There is a moderate loop trail you can gain a 4 to 5 mile hike. Faulty, Sulphur Springs Canyon and Bill Spings loop together. Sulphur canyon will bring you back to Doc Long or Sulphur Springs parking areas.
Fun place to hike, have Cub Scout meetings, or a wedding reception.
