I accidentally put DEF into the diesel tank on my truck, I realized while at the pump, towed it to this shop! What they did was just drain the def from the tank I added in to and left the rest in. I insisted to drain all the diesel from both tanks. They said the def is heavier and I sits at the bottom and draining the bottom portion will solve the problem.
