I am writing with a heavy heart and a deep sense of disappointment regarding the handling of my father’s case. My father was only 60 years old when he passed. Losing him to suicide is something our family will carry forever. In the middle of that pain, we were told that a full autopsy would be performed. We held onto that. We trusted that your office would help give us some form of understanding, some piece of closure in a situation that already feels impossible to process. Instead, what was done was an observational autopsy... read more

They have Refused to give me my husbands autopsy for 8 months now when they said it would take 4-6 months. Anytime you call they are never in the office to get anything taken care of. They take your information and say they are going to call you back but never do. They transfer you to a voicemail when they don’t have the information you ask for. Just all around not a good place to be handling such sensitive cases.

Refused to give me my son’s autopsy for 11 months. Had to file a complaint with the medical board and the county commissioners office to get Dr Oleske to sign the autopsy that was completed a month after my son passed. Then given a hard time about getting my sons pictures. Additionally, the MEs office didn’t bother to come to my son’s crash scene and take pictures. It was a Friday night so whoever was on call must have been to lazy to show up for a minor child on the side of the road. This place is a nightmare. They also ref... read more

It needs to be said that the medical examiner never returns property to Next of Kin. That is a police detective function. I've been doing crime scene work in Miami for decades and that is the responsibility of the police department. Sorry for your loss. it may not have been the best thing to return but it was not the medical examiner's choice to do that

My partner died by suicide. The medical examiner, Timothy J. Gallagher, M.D. decided it was a good idea to include an unused shotgun shell in the bio-hazard bag with his personal effects that were given to me after his funeral. It was a really shocking and disturbing thing to discover. I am guessing they were following procedure in giving back everything that was on his person when he died, but I think some discretion would have been better in this case. It felt like a punch in the gut.
