My parents have both been residents of (Discovery first) and now, The Valley Health and Rehab since 2018. My dad passed in 2019 and he and our family were treated so respectfully and kindly! My mom is still there, through three different administrations and the Covid shutdown. Her needs were met while in assisted living and when she needed a greater level of care, she was moved to the memory unit. The management changed in the last few months, so we decided to give them a chance since it was closer to my dad. The wait times for help to toilet or anything else can be long. The one for my mom, today, was nearly an hour and 20 minutes (30-40 minutes alone just to have someone come see what she needed after pressing her call button). I can never get ahold of someone at the nurses station when there is a problem. I ended up calling a number from a business card for the head nurse. I would like to give 0 stars. Unless there’s been a complete overhaul of the system there’s no way I’d put my loved one in here. They staff so short that hardly anything get done unless it’s dressing, meds, food or toileting. Those are the things that get done. There’s no extra time to care, talk or do anything extra for the residents.
Mom stayed there and got bed bugs, Never ever had she had those before,. She even saw them on the floor when she stayed there. They don't clean,. Filthy, Disgusting place. I Do not recommend any family member to Stay there.
This facility is the worst I have ever seen. I hate to admit it but I worked there for a few months and it was the most awful experience I’ve ever had and I’m sixty years old so this isn’t my first rodeo. The staff is very disrespectful and don’t try to help a new person. In fact they try to make you feel stupid when you ask for an assist which puts the resident in danger.
