The sunny Malibu location of this 3-store chain of independent booksellers. – In Short Established in Oakland in 1989, this husband and wife owned bookstore strays from the methods of its massive chain brethren. The experience is more organic and homestyle here, with shelf upon shelf stocked with both new and used titles. A Malibu Book Nook – There are things about Diesel that are undoubtedly Malibu. Coffee table books and books in general that no one would buy except people who live in Malibu and have money to waste on books that no one will ever read or maybe even look at. But beyond that, they have a great selection of normal books that anyone would want and coffee table books that normal people would actually want.
