I've had my share of poor experiences with other shops I won't mention. I was a diesel mechanic in the Army in my younger days, and a millwright at a local chemical plant for 8 years. Owner was friendly and helped explain the issues my car was having. He directed me to the simplest solution first, and didn't try to upsell me on more expensive repairs. Also showed me physically where the issues were on my vehicle.
