I’ve been a resident with DEV Communities for a year. I’ve found that renting from DEV to be a positive experience. As this building is 109 years old, any maintenance issues I’ve encountered, have been resolved in a timely manner. All my interactions with my landlord or with DEV management, have been respectful and professional. Communication with DEV and with my landlord, has also been very positive. BEWARE if you rent from them in Fort Dodge. If you're on section 8 and your rents increased and you ask for rental increase documentation they won't provide it to you. If you make complaints about big issues they won't fix them. What they won't do is rent to hard working people with jobs but what they will do is rent to people who have 6 months of rent paid for by government agencies! Moving from this apartment was a blessing! I have a local landlord; and my new apartment is way nicer and way quieter!
The DEV Communites property management team in Fort Dodge, IA, Brandon and Toni, are rude, direspectful, judgemental, and not understanding of Section 8 processes. They denied me my ability to pay them more money for a rent increase while denying me the ability to sustain affordable housing by not providing me required documentation last year or this year at lease renewal time, for section 8 assistance if I needed to utilize it. With due diligence a new property manager chose to refuse me the necessary documents I needed for section 8 to continue my housing assistance. Therefore, it lapsed and I have to reapply! Also, I'm not sure why they decide not to Renew my lease by sending. A non legal notice by email I have to move in 60 days.
