Walking along the pier at night after a few drinks is not recommended for safety reasons, but it does give a great vibe. The little lighthouse kept me company as I relinquished my woes and let the chilly sea breeze cool my flushed cheeks. I had half a mind I'd be sung into the water by the fishes like a true sailorman but I got a hankering for clam chowder instead. Great little place to get lost, Salem is and this is a nice little lighthouse to find.
I love getting a coffee near by and hanging out here on sunny days. I may be an old lady but I can still make the trek.

About this one: The Derby Wharf Light Station is a short, rectangular lighthouse built in 1871 and located at the very end of Derby Wharf. It's one of the two lighthouses in Salem; this one is downtown and part of the Maritime National Park so it's the most popular.
