I dropped in with my boys as the door was open. A couple of gents were polishing stones. One happily stopped and chatted to us about the process and showed some of their finished works. There is a display of local and more exotic stones all polished up. It was an interesting half hour.
Big thanks to Shane for sharing his local knowledge and gem cutting skills. We came for the mountain biking and ended up fossicking as well!!!
Blink and you miss it so DON'T BLINK as you drive through Derby because this little gem of a place is well worth a stop. They have a cabinet full of jewellery pieces created by local artisans. They can put you in touch with the makers if you want to buy something or discuss a commission, like I did. They're open Wednesdays and Saturdays all year round.
