I spent several years of my childhood growing up in & around this rec center and it was the place to be during the summers if you were a young kid in Opelika (and across the street at Monkey Park, of course)! Looking at it now, it's sad to see that they got rid of the swimming pool that used to be in the back.... the swimming pool that had high & low driving boards, and is where I took my first swimming lessons @ 8-9yrs old!
