Dekker’s Jewelry Store began in Goes, Netherlands in 1882. From Cornelius Dekker all the way to Randall Dekker, the store remained a family business. In 1946 Gerrit VanKampen joined Dekker's and worked as a watchmaker for Henry Dekker. From 1950 to 1973, VanKampen operated the business for Dekker. In 1973 Gerrit VanKampen officially purchased the business from Randall Dekker. Dekker's Jewelry Store has been going strong for more than 130 years. Store has everything This is a great country store in beautiful Boone, NC. It is right in the downtown area of Boone and within walking distance to ASU. The Mast General Store is open 7 days a week and they have everything from hiking supplies, camping supplies, clothes, cooking supplies, and a huge Candy Barrel store where they have all different kinds of candy to try. This a a must visit store when you are in Boone.
Large Selection of Hiking & Camping Wear & Gear This store has it all! From hiking boots, to tents, to outerwear, shoes, gifts and even a room dedicated to candy! A trip to Boone is not complete without a visit to Mast General Store. My wife loves their "candy bar" with all sorts of candy both past and present. They sell some great stuff. The Mast General Store in downtown Boone does lack some of the charm of the original, but it has it's own good points- the Candy Barrel is a great place to get old fashioned candy by the pound, and they sell a fantastic array of Birkenstock and hard to find shoes, as well as cold-weather gear. They also have a great selection of kitchen ware.
Unique Store This store takes you back to the days of general stores that had a little bit of everything including the town gossip. Boone's Mast General Store still has a wide variety of items for sale including an amazing candy selection and good quality hiking and camping equipment. The only reason I didn't give this one 5 stars is because the original one in Valle Crucis has much more historical charm and class than this one. PROS: inexpensive, huge candy selection CONS:
Great atmosphere with small town feel! Whether you live in Boone or just passing through, this is a great place to stop in and do some window shopping or pick up some unique gifts to take home. My sister lives in Boone, and we always go by here to wander around. They have old fashioned candy and sodas downstairs and upstairs they have various outdoor gear on one side and then country-type items/gifts on the other side. Neat place for anyone in the family to enjoy!
Step back in time Mast General Store is listed on the National register of Historic Places, so simply visiting is a real treat. The store offers the traditional mercantile goods such as jams, jellies, chow-chow, etc. It also has a large selection of outdoor gear and footwear. The displays are charming and the staff is warm and inviting. PROS: Historical place CONS: none
