Is there any mental health service in Alabama worth a crap? Running out of pills is criminal neglect.

“Therapy” lasts for maybe 15 minutes each week. No effort is made to form any sort of relationship with the patient. If they don’t see improvements after several of these short therapy sessions, they will send you to the ER at UAB or Erlanger, even if you don’t meet criteria for inpatient care. If you need to see the doctor for medication changes, it will be through a telehealth call, where you will speak with someone you’ve never met and never will again. They are woefully understaffed and the therapists are burnt out . I used to come home from a session and immediately call the suicide hotline. I felt traumatized by the treatment I received there. Went there for years without improvement. One therapist would give me a printout to read while she did paperwork. She later told me they are just medication management. They didn’t have the resources for actual therapy. Her exact words.
