I consulted with Dr. Wechter in July for a prophylactic mastectomy and reconstruction. I was high risk due to family history and personal history. My risk score, from my breast surgeon, was 38%. She calculated it lower, at 26%, because we weren't sure if my grandma had cancer or not - she had a single mastectomy in the 60's. Anyhow, I knew I wanted to pursue a mastectomy.
