It's sad when public servants make statements against semi automatic sporting rifles, particularly erroneously calling them "assault rifles" which they are not. Of course they are deadly weapons, as are shotguns, handguns, trucks, knives, stones, clubs poison and thousands of other objects used to kill by madmen.
