Pretty solid apartment for the cost in a great location. Older building that comes with the pros and cons. Exremely cold because of poor insulation, if you look towards the wood facing the street you can actually see under the wall and view the sidewalk but it has the charm of an older style apartment. Landlord is scummy. They will nickle and dime you and it takes forever for them to process any sort of requests for maintenance. I rented a studio on 5th Ave for a year, and really enjoyed my stay. The staff are very professional and friendly. Maintenance is usually within the same day or the next day at most. Staff respond to emails within the same day. The building was renovated, and the quality of my studio was way better and cleaner than other places I have seen in Shadyside, especially for the price I paid. I have lived in my apartment in Shadyside for 2 years and have loved it! My apartment is beautiful and the staff is friendly and helpful. They are quick to help me with any small problem and have been extremely accommodating throughout my time renting from them. I cannot recommend this company enough. If you are looking for a place to rent in Pittsburgh, Deaktor Development is who you should call.

This company cannot keep up with the amount of tenants from which they rent. Their front office management is deplorable. The receptionist is rude, uneducated on professionalism and quite unfit for her job. E-mails go unanswered, maintenance requests sit for weeks and there is a pure lack of communication among staff. They have a monopoly on the area and do not care to be decent to those which they overcharge.

We have been very accommodating to this tenant. First, we allowed her to move in three days before her lease started, complimentary. Second, we gave her brand new appliances such as a brand new washer dryer and a new refrigerator at her request. We have done everything we can to please her, however, she has looked for confrontation whenever she can, including fighting with other tenants.
