DR CHOPRA NEEDS TO BE FORMALLY INVESTIGATED AND HAVE HIS LICENSE REVOKED I am a current patient at Deakin Private Hospital using a different name for privacy. I STRONGLY advise anyone assigned to Dr Vinod Chopra to immediately request a second opinion or alternative psychiatrist. In a psychiatric review that lasted under 10 minutes(they are supposed to be 30 minuets) , I was THREATENED with discharge for becoming emotional while asking reasonable questions about medication side effects. Pros: Dr Ava Carter is an angel (main reason for the stars) Cozy rooms and beds Food is overall decent for a hospital with vending machine for late night snacks Cons: 30 mins twice a week with the psychiatrist was challenging to cover everything Sometimes was difficult to access the GP A few medication errors so you need to have your wits about you Not enough nurses Not very accommodating if you have other physical illnesses Groups were underwhelming at times - it would be nice to do something other than CBT when most people... read more
The incompetence of the nurses and staff here is second to none. Edit- after living with the actual ptsd from my time here I would like to add to this in order to gain some kind of closure. I was misdiagnosed following having to endlessly tell the nurses they’d given me the wrong medications. Many of them acknowledged they’d given me the wrong medications but apparently that’s a no-no in these places. I told one nurse I’d had a seizure and she didn’t write it down so I was second guessed.
