Not recommended for veterans using VA authorizations. They will bill the veteran as uninsured, even though the veteran has an approved VA Authorization. This will happen multiple times, even if corrected once. So when they fix one bill they must not be taking steps to prevent a reoccurrence. This causes the veteran to take multiple steps to rectify the issue. While the drs are great, the financial assistance department is an ABSOLUTE JOKE! I completed the application for financial assistance and waited to hear back from these folks. Over 60 days later, I finally receive 1 letter from them stating I’d been denied for lack of response to their requests for additional information. Like all medical facilities, there are good and not good doctors and supporting staff at Deaconess. The issue I have is frequently cancelled appointments at the last minute. Yesterday, my appointment with Dr. Starrett was cancelled just 20 minutes before appointment time. No reason given for the cancellations. Not the first, second, third or even forth time this has happened. The PATIENT RELATIONS office is closed at the Gateway location. Was there as a visitor for a loved one, everyone seemed friendly and professional. Also, my husband made a comment about how clean it smelled, not the gross "hospital clean smell," but actually clean.
