Drove 2 hours, waited close to 45 minutes in the room, examined by a resident, then got to see the specialist finally for about 3-4 whole minutes. Very poor bedside manner, unfriendly, cocky, didn't examine me just asked how it all started. All I can say is I hope he was right when he said it's benign with just looking at the MRI. No explanation given as to how he came to that conclusion but I was quickly rushed out. I could have have a virtual visit and saved myself the drive and being alone because of course they won't let... read more
Those 2 very odd and I am scared because I just can't go back there- Weird vibe- they are rude and reluctant to answer questions. Awful experience- have seen him 3 times. Same each time. Another Doctor suggested I have a cocktail before going again and the vist may be more palatable.
Dr. McGarry and RN Kirby both have poor bedside manners. Long waits, normally hours past my original appointment time. Dr. McGarry does not like patients asking questions and seeking alternative treatments to his first suggestion. As an informed patient, I like to explore all of my treatment options starting with the least invasive before jumping into surgery. Appointment was very rushed, Dr. McGarry and his nurse Kirby are in the room for less than 3 minutes each visit. This has been a constant problems for years, but unfor... read more
Three month follow-up to my visit and all he did was listen to my heart and lungs and then tell me to come back in a year. When I pointed out the nurse took my BP and it was still 150 over 80 he looked surprised (yet he just read the chart), took it himself and confirmed, and told me I need a new medication right away. To top it off, he mis-wrote the prescription and the pharmacy couldn't fill it. These guy needs to try a little harder. :/
Excellent and to the point. My referral was from my primary physician, who is also a patient. Dr. Akkad is brief, yes, but elaborates when necessary. I feel confident in his care.
Great doctor!!
Spent less than 2 minutes with patient
Does not spend to much time with you in clinic. Had a procedure done, during my procedure waited in preop for 3 hours and then he talked to me for about 1 min after my test and then to my husband in the waiting room for 30 seconds. I sent several portal messages and phone calls with a week passing before it was ever reached out to. At this point I had already scheduled an appointment with a different cardiologist!
Very personable, knowledgeable and comforting. Excellent doctor. Best rheumatologist I’ve seen.
