I loved Dr Rakel. He was so warm and friendly from the moment he entered the room. He listened and truly heard me, took my concerns seriously, explained what he thought was responsible for my medical issues and made appropriate referrals. I couldn’t have asked for more. He would be an outstanding mentor for medical students. (I’m sure he’s been in that role)
Dr. Rakel was kind and soft-spoken, and I appreciate that. However, I left most appointments feeling brushed off and like my concerns weren’t fully heard or explored. I often felt like more of a burden than a patient. His nursing staff was also very dismissive—any time I reached out with questions or symptoms, the response was typically to go to the ER instead of offering guidance or follow-up care. Dr Rakel was immensely helpful in shedding new light on recent bloodwork results, then moving forward with further investigation. I find him to be a very caring physician who is invested in my well-being
