Dr Gellar has caused several complications with my family members. Heard nothing but bad reputation from other nurses and patients

It's so sad; my mother's languishing in agony after Dr. Geller performed bariatric surgery on her at Jewish Hospital on January 15th. Two days after that he tried to fix her liver because he had scratched it. It's been one thing after another since then and now her unhealed 14 inch abdominal wound is leaking blood, stool, and bile. She's vomiting up bile and stool too but Dr. Gelller says that she has a bad attitude because she's too weak to do rehabilitation exercises. She's malnourished.

Dr Geller placed a Lap Band for me in 2012. I was upset that at my first band fill, that he did not wash his hands before touching me. He said he “didn’t have to.” I specifically requested that he wash his hands prior to the procedure. He reiterated that he did not have to. He repaired my prolapsed Lap Band one year later after the pneumonia and sepsis. He lacerated my liver but told me everything went great. I found out 6 months later, from billing! I have vomited every day since repair!

I like Dr. Gellar but every time I go it takes nearly 2 hours so unfortunately I only go if its an emergency. It takes me and hour to get there and an hour to get back. Last time I was the only one there and sat in the little room waiting for an hour and fifteen minutes before he came in. I can't spend 4 or 5 hours out of my day for one appointment that literally could have taken 10-15 minutes just get fluid out of a lapband. I think he is extremely knowledgeable though in his field

Down to earth very sweet man who's goals are to help you anyway he can. The atmosphere when visiting him is very calm and peaceful and he knows how to ease your fears and explain every choice you have for your health in detail and to your understanding. His staff is very sweet and understanding
