Our stay at Crimson Tide property My family recently visited Dauphin Island. This was our second time to vacation on the island. We have used Dauphin Island Real Estate both times for our rental. Our first time was 2 years ago. The house (Awake on the Gulf) was magnificent, views were magnificent, just as was indicated in the rental information. Loved it so much, we wanted to return. We returned for another week in October 2017. The woman at the real estate office told me when I picked up the keys there was something leaking on the east side of the house and they had sent someone out to repair it and it should be okay by the next day. When we arrived at the house, there was a couple big pots in the doorway leading to the east side bedrooms. We realized it was just condensation from the doors being open and it cleared up after a few hours. We then put our luggage in our rooms. In the east side front bedroom, the ceiling light was not working. In the east side back, bedroom the ceiling fan wasn’t working. In the west side front bedroom, there was toothpaste on the front of the vanity, looked like had not been swept or cleaned, rugs in the bathroom were dirty, Ice maker wasn’t making ice, outlet on the deck didn’t work. There was also toothpaste in the sink in the west side back bedroom. We killed several roaches while there, the glass doors leading to the deck had not been cleaned, the mirrors in the living room hadn’t been cleaned. Lights in kitchen over bar, one was not working. Overall just not very clean. That night when we turned our beds down to go to bed, the sheets had black hair and small dead bugs on the sheets. I have pictures if there is any question about this. I called Kathy Havard. Her business card was in my package when I checked in. She was very rude to us. She ask me why didn’t we call her sooner about all the problems. We are not complainers. We don’t like drama. Just wanted a nice vacation. I told her that the fans and lights not working, the sliding glass doors and mirrors being dirty, the rugs in the bathroom and bedroom being dirty, and the toothpaste in the sink and on the vanity we could deal with but when the sheets were covered in hair and dead bugs, that was last straw. I took pictures of all the hair and bugs on the sheets. I told her we didn’t check the beds when we first got there because this is not something I usually do until we are ready to go to bed at night. She ask if we wanted our cleaning fee back. We ask what the cleaning fee was but never said yes or no we wanted it back. She didn’t even know how much the cleaning fee was. She threw out a figure of $200. We were refunded $155 for the cleaning fee. A lady and a man come to change the beds that night at 9:30-10:00. She listened to what we had to say. She told us that they would have somebody there Monday to clean and Monday came and nobody showed up. I have since ask about that and she said that we told them we didn’t want them to come on Monday and clean. Which is totally not true. We didn’t call about it. We just wanted to enjoy our vacation. We were asked to evacuate the island by Friday morning and was reimbursed for that day and I assume part of Saturday morning. As we were trying to get packed up and out of there, one person in our party left a make up bag on the vanity in her bathroom. It was white and blended with the towels so she didn’t see it. It had about $250.00 worth of product in it. She called and they said the cleaning crew didn’t find anything but she would look herself. She went and looked after the roads were cleared and said there was nothing there. This is the last time I will ever deal with Dauphin Island Real Estate. To have had such a great experience the first time, this time was horrible.
