Tldr: overpriced and underperforming I was thoroughly disappointed by Dashi, It's been a while since I left a restaurant hungry because the food was simply not worth eating. We ordered the buns and they came out as 2-bite buns for $7 a piece. Had they been amazing I would have moved past the absurd price but they were shallow in depth and conception. I've been here twice. My first visit, I tried the � la carte menu — it was okay, nothing that made me want to come back. I returned on 9/22 after reading positive reviews about the omakase with Satoshi Katakura. Service and atmosphere were both good, but the food was disappointing, especially the cod. It didn't taste fresh, and heavy seasoning seemed to be masking that rather than complementing the dish. It felt like they were going for a Nobu-style flavor profile, but it didn't land. Let me tell you about a gem named Emilia. I’m a regular at Dashi and Emilia has been my server three times, being by far the most diligent and attentive. Every time Emilia is patient with my dietary needs and knowledgeable about the menu. I went there on my birthday and Emilia remembered how much I love the ice cream cookie sandwich, immediately informed me that they were out, and then presented me with this adorable yuzu cake. I blew out the candle and wished for peace and prosperity for both myself and Emilia.
