I am very grateful to live near a hospital as well-equipped as DH, though just as grateful to have the privilege of working with a private midwife who can offer the best care through presence, patience, and personalization. I did not have a bad experience with DH in the first 18 weeks of my pregnancy, but my experience did confirm where I find the modern medical model to be lacking. I was disappointed by several points of miscommunication between the practitioners and myself, and amongst themselves. Navigating my first pregn... read more

My husband and were expecting our first baby, and we were overjoyed to begin growing our family. I carried our baby boy for 18 weeks without issue, until our anatomy scan changed everything. What followed was one of the most frightening and uncertain times of our lives. Being referred to the MFM team at Dartmouth Hitchcock made all the difference. From the moment we stepped into the practice, we knew we were in the right place. Every physician we met was supportive, confident, and direct. They gave us honest answers, never a... read more

I delivered my first child at DHMC and had a good experience. However, I was horrified by their care when I had to undergo a D&C for a missed miscarriage. I have a very high pain threshold so I expected no issues. What ensued was the most excruciating experience of my life. I was uncontrollably screaming and sobbing throughout the procedure and nearly passed out. To add insult t... read more

My care during my stay was good from the nurses and residents but terrible from the attending physicians. I had severe complications, and the direction my care went depended on who was on shift. I was not educated on what the future of my stay looked like, which made it impossible to coordinate care for my older child at home. After being discharged, I had a few follow up appointments but my condition did not improve. They stopped contacting me and then refused to fill my prescriptions despite still suffering from the condit... read more

DO NOT GIVE BIRTH WITH THESE PEOPLE. They almost killed me and my baby by not treating my GBS during labor. At my induction, Anna Childs neglected to follow up on my repeat GBS test which was about to expire (literally said “I’m not worried about it”) and I ended up with an acute chorioamnionitis infection in my uterus which resulted in an extremely traumatic birth, an AVOIDABLE uterine rupture, and damage to my thoracic duct from the excessive force used on my body by several nurses during my son’s delivery. I was hospitali... read more
