I needed a gallbladder removal (7 months overdue from er referral from rrmc- yet rrmc wouldn't perform the surgery because no insurance after they pinched the duct against liver) Dartmouth had me in a room within a half hour. They gave me iv antibiotics to make surgery safe for 4 days before the knife. My night nurses were kind and thoughtful and the surgery was a huge success- I walked my 1st mile 4hrs after waking up. Between being treated like an animal on several occasions as a patient and having security follow only me, the only person that had different... physical features than their gift shop clerk while just shopping with my family, I dread this place. I'm definitely not shopping at the gift shop, but sadly most of the accessible healthcare in this area is here at Dartmouth.
My major abdominal surgery for liver dissection was a 5 star by Dr Kang. My nursing care for the 4 days I was admitted was both wonderful and terrible depending on who was assigned. I will report what needs improvement: 1. Empty folly bag more attentively and check it’s not air locked or back flowing. Some don’t check it for over 4 hours even if your getting lots of ivs. 2 communication was bad. Great hospital I have many specialists taking Great care of me thanks. But I do not recommend the ophthalmology department at all go somewhere else.
